INDUSTRIAL CONTROL HANDBOOK - 1.0 SENSORS

Good sensors are essential in any automated system. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) is possible only if compute to end. Some sensors detect only part presence. Other sensors, bar code readers, for example, help to track materials, tooling, and products as they enter, go through, and leave CIM environments. In fact, every automated manufacturing operation should include a sensor to ensure it is working correctly.
